Why are you all sitting around watching the boob-tube when you could be writing the Great American 1,200 word story?
Are you a writer? Do you know someone who is? Well, this is your lucky day!
The Dark Globe, the same folks that sponsored the Fun and Fantastic February Fotography (Photography, for those of you who aren’t into forced alliteration) Contest, has just announced a contest for writers. Click here to get the scoop from the original source, because all great writers know not to rely on hearsay accounts from sketchy bloggers–even if the sketchy blogger in question (me) is one of the judges.
Oh, don’t look so shocked. I’m probably a better judge of writing than I am of photographs. Probably. We’ll see, now, won’t we?
Here are the facts…just the facts (well, maybe a bit of editorializing):
- The contest is called The Dark Globe Create a World Writing Contest, which suggests to me that the written piece you (or someone you know) submits should bring the reader into a world of your creation. This is admittedly vague, but vague is good in this case because creative freedom doesn’t blossom in cement, which is rarely vague. (I bet you’re already thrilled that I’m going to judge these submissions.)
- All genres are welcome, but the submissions can’t be any longer than 1,200 words. If you can’t create a world in 1,200 words, then you’re not trying hard enough.
- The submissions begin on April 1 and end on April 15, so you have a little time to procrastinate, but not much.
- All submissions and questions must be directed to Dark Globe’s site because I don’t really know what I’m talking about.

I’m not submitting. I’m one of the seven judges.

I leave the writing to the pros. I can’t wait to see you submission.

You go, Girl!

Oh! Splendid idea. I shall check and perhaps submit anonymously (with yet another pseudonym, lol).
Mar 20, 2012 @ 14:33:13
Oh good! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the lucky judges. I hope I’m up for all the reading I’m in for…

Maybe you have something in your archives that you can resurrect?

Thanks for giving us a heads up on this one. Not sure I’ll have time, barely have time to get on my blog but I do love the idea of being a true writer, lol lol.
Love,
Your separated at birth soul sister, lol xo

I have been working on one. I completed it over the weekend.
April 1st is my husbands birthday. I think I’ll post that day. LOL
Good Luck with the judging. It can be a challenge just to do that.
I believe you’re up to it.
Hugs ….
Izzy

Wonderful! Good luck–but writers like you don’t need luck, you’ve got TALENT! 🙂

Well, Al, since you entered the contest and signed a waiver, I didn’t think you’d mind. I am on firm (and I do mean firm in every sense of the term) footing here. 😉

Lorna, we’ve been over this before. Please don’t post pictures of me without my permission (2nd picture, far right).

Sheeesh I guess I could give it a shot lol my main obstacle is the “world” I’m living in isn’t even my creation. Thanks for sharing this Lorna. I might try to mix some fiction in to make my real world more believable…wish me luck!

Lol, Hilarious, Thanks Lorna
